How to Throw an Office Party
There are many events during the year that you might want to throw an office party for: Holidays, Company Anniversary, Birthdays, Production Goal Achievements, etc. Whatever the party is for, we want it to be a good one so we have put together a list of tips for your next corporate event.
Before the Party
Invite Everyone and Their Spouses
Make sure you don’t leave anyone in the office off of the invite list! When inviting your employees, invite their spouses too. Even though it is more costly, people are more likely to come to a party outside of the office with their spouses. Plus, just because you invite their spouses doesn’t mean all of them will come.
Don’t Have it at the Office
Not only do we beg you, but your employees do too: don’t have your corporate event at the office! The office is for working and is not somewhere people can let loose a little. Even if your party isn’t going to be the crazy type, it still important to get out of the office. It also shows your employees that you care about them enough to put some thought into the event.
During the Party
Have a Food Station
Food stations are becoming very popular when it comes to events. Whether it is shrimp cocktails, s’mores, or tacos, including a do-it-yourself food station at your office party is a must. Not everyone is going to eat the same things due to diets and allergies so giving people an option to make their plate the way they like is an easy solution.
Have Giveaways and Games
One important detail of every event or party is making sure that people stay occupied. You don’t want people sitting at their tables after they eat staring at the wall. Giveaways and games create excitement, activity, and inter-mingling. Giveaways also create anticipation for next year’s party.
Not every event needs a photographer, but make sure you capture a few pictures here and there at your party. These pictures are a physical reminder to your employees the great time they had at the party and how excited they are for the next one.
The Benefits After an Office Party
Having a party once or twice a year that your employees can look forward to is a perk to working at your company. Office parties also create office culture. It allows employees to build relationships and increases their desire to come to work. Finally, having office parties gives value to your employees and makes them feel appreciated by you. If done right, having an office party will better the workplace and further your business in the right direction.
